Councils

IHA Councils advise staff on needs and requirements in particular areas. This input helps IHA focus its advocacy and education efforts. Council members generally serve for two-year terms and are appointed by the Chairman-Elect of IHA's Board of Directors. Submit your request by Oct. 21.  

Behavioral Health

The Behavioral Health Council advises IHA on the needs and requirements of behavioral health facilities. Council members generally include chief executive officers, chief operating officers and directors of behavioral health services. Finance

The Finance Council monitors programs and payment systems of all payers. It also advises on and promotes payment methodologies that enhance IHA members’ financial activities. By request, the Council also assists staff in relationships with third-party payers and helps determine what financial data to collect and share among IHA members. Council members generally include chief executive officers and chief financial officers. Government Relations

The Government Relations Council helps the Board of Directors develop IHA’s government relations policy and legislative priorities. It also provides direction for IHA’s own policy development. Council members generally include chief executive officers and hospital government relations officers. Information Management

The Information Management Council advises IHA on the information needs of its members and on what data should be collected. The Council also oversees data formatting issues, technology for collecting and distributing data and on IHA information services. In addition, the Council keeps IHA up-to-date on data reporting requirements for members from agencies such as the National Quality Forum, accrediting bodies and various state and federal regulatory agencies.

Council members generally include chief operating officers, chief information officers, information systems directors, quality professionals and chief executive officers with an expressed interest in technology. Quality and Patient Safety

The Quality and Patient Safety Council provides guidance on IHA’s patient safety activities and serves as the advisory board for the Indiana Patient Safety Center. It assists IHA in developing positions on federal and state patient safety and quality improvement initiatives. It advises the IHA board, Indiana Patient Safety Center and staff on quality improvement and patient safety needs of IHA members and recommends programs to support those needs. It also monitors the activities of organizations that impact quality improvement, such as the National Quality Forum, accrediting bodies and various state and federal regulatory agencies.

Council members generally include chief executive officers, chief medical officers, chief nursing executives, patient safety officers, quality professionals, infection control practitioners and members of governing boards interested in safety. Rural Health

The Rural Health Council advises IHA on the needs and requirements of Indiana citizens in rural areas and the hospitals that serve them. Council members generally include chief executive officers and chief operating officers. Workforce Development

The Workforce Development Council advises IHA on issues related to human resource management and development. It also helps develop principle and policy recommendations on medical staff and employee relations. Council members generally include chief executive officers, chief operating officers, chief nursing officers, chief medical officers and human resources executives.
