Excel Webinar Series
Excel Webinar Series

The Indiana Hospital Association is pleased to partner with Melissa Esquibel to offer a five-part Microsoft Excel webinar series. Over the past several years, Melissa has been a great resource for IHA staff and our members. As a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) with more than 25 years in business application technology, Melissa has a unique ability to make learning programs enjoyable AND valuable.

Each 90-minute webinar in the series will include assignments which will prepare the learner for the next webinar. Regardless of whether a learner attends a single webinar or the entire series, there will be files prepared for each level which will represent the completed assignment.

Part One: Foundations

For those that are not comfortable in Excel beyond filling out worksheets that someone else prepared. This session goes over the basics of building lists and basic formulas, as well as formatting techniques and creating templates.

Part Two: Formula Workshop

For those comfortable with SUM, AVERAGE and other basic functions, but who need to up their game by including logical (IF, AND, OR, SUMIF) and lookup (VLOOKUP, INDEX, MATCH, LOOKUP) functions. In this session, we learn how functions are built and combined to allow Excel to do most of the heavy lifting with lists and calculations. You'll learn not only how to use these powerful functions, but what to do when they don't work.

This session is appropriate for those with little or no experience in Pivot Tables, as well as those who have worked with Pivot Tables, but who have little formal training.

Part Four: Charts and Graphs

Creating charts can be a challenge. Creating ones that update themselves and continue to communicate clearly can be frustrating, until you know the tricks the pros use to do the hard work only once. This session not only covers the how-to of charts, but the “how do I get them into my documents and presentations?" part.

This session focuses on taking bad lists and turning them into powerful information resources. You'll learn the right ways to import data into Excel and how to fix common errors and misalignments. Finally, you'll learn how to make short work of having to do it all again, by learning how to record and run a macro.
