The Hahn Foundation: Supporting Indiana hospitals since 1961
When IHA was established in 1921, Albert and Grace Hahn were already well known in the Evansville community for their leadership of Deaconess Hospital. For his tireless advocacy on behalf of Indiana hospitals, Albert was named IHA’s first executive director in 1933. His wife, Grace, was its second—taking the reins in 1959 and serving until 1963. In 1961, during Grace’s tenure as executive director, the family established the Hahn Foundation to provide funding for research and education in health care. More than half a century later, the Hahn Foundation continues to support the advancement of health care in Indiana through two main initiatives:
- Through the Stella Scholarship Fund, the Hahn Foundation annually awards $10,000 in scholarships to students in the graduate program in health administration at Indiana University.
- The Hahn Foundation administers funds to hospitals that have suffered damage as a result of natural disasters via the Hospital Employee Disaster Relief Fund.
